Revenue and warrant ledgers, 1813-1850.

Ledgers record all Territorial and State Treasury accounts detailing general government operation receipts and disbursements; and revenue collections made in each county. Entries include disbursement or receipt date and amount; payee or payor name; disbursement reason (e.g., services or labor performed; supplies or equipment provided; tax collection commissions; fees refunded) or receipt reason (e.g., tax collection; fees received; state land sales; land sales due to tax nonpayment). State government general operations accounts are arranged by state office and agency. Appropriations funds include State House maintenance; land sale clerks' fees; convict conveyance; constitutional conventions; judicial circuits; law and General Assembly journal distribution; fugitives from justice; hawkers and peddlers' licenses; Interest Fund; insane hospital tax; militia; refunded money; judgments against state; printing and binding; silk premiums; and preemption claims on land. County revenue distributions are arranged under name and title of county official responsible for collecting taxes (usually county sheriff).
